    Removal of new buckthorn sprouts. Removal of weeds, non-native plants. Thinning sections which are crowded by single species. Deadheading to balance species. Removing garbage and fallen branches near or on the trail.

    Plugs of young plants are set in pre-drilled holes in the areas prepared around the cottage on the sides and in the front. No-mow grass seed is scattered in the back. Small bushes and trees are planted in a few areas. Weeds are removed. In the rear, buckthorn and honeysuckle are removed.

    Along the trail from Shelton Park to Scott Ave. certain species of seed heads, with short stalks, are cut and collected into large bags. Sessions are planned as the seed heads of each species become developed and dried enough to provide viable seeds.
